Last week some of the folks at DCBeer got to participate in a beer dinner put on by Sam Adams at the gourmet restaurant, Vidalia. Not to be outdone, J.Paul’s in Georgetown is hosting their own Sam Adams dinner. While I haven’t heard they will be serving Utopias at the event, I can say that these beer dinners do not dissappoint. The food at the Vidalia dinner was excellent!
J.Paul’s version involves four courses with a tasting of Sam Adams beers with each part. Start off with Baby Spinach Salad with Tallegio Cheese, spiced pecans, cherries and apple butter vinaigrette. You’ll also get five cheese ravioli topped with duck confit; five hour braised short rib with thyme-buttered mushrooms and beer battered onion rings; and finish it off with the Amber Ale Cream Puff stuffed with chocolate mousse paired with a Sam Adams Toffee seasonal.
The beer pairings apart from the desert are a mystery, but I know we got their Sam Porter, Cranberry Lambic and a Coastal Wheat which you might see paired with the above.
The event is Tuesday (tonight) at 6:30 PM. J.Paul’s is located at 3218 M Street in Georgetown. They are a hop skip and a jump from Birreria Paradiso if you want to make a complete night of it. Tickets can be purchased on the J.Paul’s website here.
