I know it’s a bit of a drive, but if you leave now you can beat the traffic. Magnolia’s at the Mill is a great local food and craft beer restaurant out in Loudon County, so it’s a great place to visit regardless of whether there happens to be a Dogfish Head Extreme Beer Dinner. Tonight is of particular interest tho because the man himself will be there. That’s right, the ever traveling Sam Calagione will be MCing the event at Magnolia’s at the Mill tonight.
Upon arriving you get some Punkin Ale. Next up will be 90 Minute paired with the 1st course: Tuna Sashimi, Warm Curry Oil and Asian Slaw. Next up you’ll get a glass of Sahtea with Scallops, eggplant puree and carrot cardamom syrup. At this point normal humans would cry uncle. But you will be drinking a Theobroma and eating a wood grilled honey Ancho Quail with sweet potato salad. And if it weren’t enough, you’ll wash that down with a Palo Santo Maron with braised boneless short ribs, parsnip potato puree and some blue cheese. For desert you’ll have Raison D’etre with bread pudding speckled with golden raisins, walnuts and bourbon vanilla sauce. They are also promising a final mystery beer.
The whole thing is $70 a person, and I’d suggest you arrange for a driver, hotel room, or a pillow for under your table because you wont be driving yourself home tonight.
The event is tonight (Thursday). Magnolias at the Mill is at 198 N. 21st St. in Purcellville, VA. You might want to call 540-338-9800. Take the Dulles Toll Road but go early.
