Sure Oktoberfest may have ‘officially’ ended last week, but that’s not gonna stuff us Americans for finishing the left over kegs of German fest beer lying around. Nor should it stop us from gathering in the Rustico parking lot this Saturday! Starting at noon the venerable beer institution will be throwing a party behind their restaurant with food, beer and musical entertainment. Entrance is free but tickets will be sold to exchange for food and beer.
Food will be served by all of the NRG restaurants including: Rustico, Buzz (cupcakes and beer at last?), the Evening Star Cafe, Vermilion, Tallula, EatBar, Columbia Firehouse & Star Catering.
Beers poured will be a mix of Oktoberfests, Fall beers and Pumpkin beers including: Southern Tier PumKing Ale, Climax Oktoberfest, Schlenkerla Urbock Unfiltered, Sierra Nevada Yakima Harvest Ale, Heavy Seas Prosit Imperial Pumpkin in a traditional cask, Avery The Kaiser, and Wolaver’s Will Stevens’ Organic Pumpkin Ale.
For entertainment while you are pairing some of those spicy pumpkin beers with cupcakes you can enjoy music from local bands El Quatro, Brother Shamus, Smoking Lotus, Emmett Swimming, New Rock Church of Fire. You can also go on the moon bounce or paint a pumpkin–oh wait that’s for the kids.
Besides the beer, the most exciting development regarding this event is the chance to win a 1997 Harley Davidson motorcycle in a raffle to benefit the DC’s Central Kitchen. Drink beer, win a Harley–this chance doesn’t arise to often in life.
Oktobeerfest start at noon and goes till 6PM. It takes place behind Rustico in Alexandria. Take the metro and get off at Braddock Road Station–take a digital pic of yourself outside the station for free drink tickets–and then walk several blocks (it’s a bunch) to 1100 North Fayette Road. There will also be pedicabs shuttling people from the metro.
