Remember how we let them close Dr. Dremo’s? Now it’s been bulldozed and has remained an empty undeveloped lot full of WEEDS for the last couple years. NEVER FORGET. The historic Black Roost Pub is now in trouble. They are being forced to close on Friday Oct. 16. That is… unless the local beer community steps in to save them.

The Black Rooster Rub was established in 1970 and features a back bar imported from England, authentic stained glass ceiling panels and the extensive collection of beer and whiskey mirrors from the British Isles. They’ve also got 200-year-old welsh carvings behind the bar.

Independently-owned breweries (namely Flying Dog from the way they’ve been pushing the event) have come together to raise awareness for the 40 year family-owned, neighborhood bar. So what’s in it for you: $1 off all Flying Dog, Magic Hat, Samuel Adams, & Otter Creek beers. Not bad. Also, representatives from these breweries will be there to meet, greet and give you free stuff.

Come out to the Black Rooster located at 1919 L St NW on Monday, October 12th, starting at 5:00PM and to take advantage of the drink specials and giveaways as well as help save the bar from closure. Maybe we can play a game of darts and reminisce about Dremo’s too.

P.S. Rumor has it that Flying Dog’s really tasty Ragin’ Bitch Belgian IPA will be on tap to try!
