Loyal DC Beer fans, one of the great things about beer is that it has the power to draw people from all walks of life together to bars and restaurants and sometimes worthwhile charity events. DC Beer is a media sponsor for one such event coming up soon and we’d like to encourage everyone to go!
Friends of the Library Montgomery County is hosting a night of beer and food pairing with Dogfish Head, Hook and Ladder, and Flying Dog breweries on Friday October 2nd. As they say on their website, “There’s no Miller or Bud to be found here, only unique, full-flavored, mouthwatering brews to tantalize and entice your palate.” In addition to the great beer they will be serving up some great food from area restaurants.
Guiding the beer tasting will be local beer journalists Arnold Meltzer and Steven Frank, referred to as the Brews Brothers. They will be assisted by representatives from the breweries. In addition there will be a bunch of raffles at the event including hats and t-shirts from the breweries, 6-packs from Flying Dog, and a free vacation rental where you could probably enjoy beer on your own.
Tickets are $25 a piece or $45 for two tickets with discounts for members of Friends of the Library. The price of tickets includes all the food and non-alcoholic drinks you’d like. Tasting all the great beer involves the purchase of a collectors mini-pilsner glass which comes with 5 drink tickets for $5. Remember it’s all going to support Friends of the Library which funds projects and programs not included in the library system’s operating budget like educational and cultural programs and innovative library technologies.

Between the food and beer being served that night plus the collector’s glass and the money going to a great cause, we feel almost bad giving away tickets. That’s right, DCBeer is giving away two admission tickets and a souvenir glass to one DC Beer reader and their guest. (Remember you will still need to buy drink tickets $5 for 6 samples but it goes to a good cause! The tickets include food and non-alcoholic drinks to your heart’s content.)
