Washington City Paper’s Lagerheads have a cool review of the DC Beer Week event hosted by Granville Moore’s. Rob Tod, Allagash founder and brewer, was there to guide the diners in the beer tasting and pairing.
Beers included the Belgian IPA Hugh Malone, the Allagash Tripel, the Belgian Stout Allagash Black, the bourbon barrel aged Curieux Tripel, the standard flagship Allagash White and the dark and fruity Allagash Dubbel. They were paired with things like pork belly and braised lamb shoulder. Lagerheads said this about the event:
Gathered that night were about thirty beer lovers who listened intently (though admittedly less so as the night went on) to descriptions of each beer and dish as they were poured and plated right at the bar. The pairings were “f*&%ing awesome,†as Rob Tod put it, but it was the intimate setting and a charismatic hosting duo that made the night. The event was the first of what we hope will be many beer dinners to come at Granville Moore’s.
