September 16 – October 3
The day will start at Shaw at noon on 9/16 with our first ceremonial keg tapping, this marks the beginning of the festival and follows the Bavarian traditions still celebrated in Germany.
We’ll have a Ceremonial Keg tapping at Navy Yard at 2pm on 9/16 as well, featuring our favorite baseball Racing Presidents and Dacha’s own polka band “A Jury of Your Beers” as well as German dance performances by Potomactaler, and Pretzel eating and boot holding contests.
Shaw will have Bavarian food specials (which we are actually already rolling out, until the end of Oktoberfest) including Pork Schnitzel, Kartoffelpuffer (German potato pancakes), and Golubtsi (Beef Stuffed Cabbage rolls) — attaching a couple photos just in case
Navy Yard will have live entertainment each weekend of Oktoberfest, starting with plenty of Polka on 9/16 and then a variety of local rock bands. We’ll have an appearance from Washington catcher Riley Adams on 9/24 to celebrate Oktoberfest and the end of the Nats season and of course, we’ll have plenty of pups on hand for our annual Dogtoberfest on 9/30.
Oktoberfest will come to an official close on October 1st this year.
