In the past month or so the Twitter hash tag #DCBrews has taken off and become a way for members of the craft beer community in and around Washington, DC to let their companions know what they’re up to. Tweeters ranging from bars to homebrewers to distributors to liquor stores have engaged each other with the click-clacking of Blackberries, iPhones, and computers. But now it’s time for the Twitter veil to be lifted. That’s right, this upcoming Tuesday, May 25, from 6pm on, there will be a #DCBrews-sponsored Tweetup and happy hour at Churchkey (1337 14th St NW).
If the Tweet-up reaches a critical mass, a special section of the venerable Churchkey bar will be roped off, so it’s important to come on by and have a beer if you’re anywhere near the area. Some of your favorite DCBeer folks will be on-hand and ready to talk about what you’d like to see and to pass on the latest in craft beer news in the District.
While it’s uncertain what will be new and exciting on tap at Churchkey by the time of the Tweet-up, check back to this post on Monday or Tuesday for all of the latest in draft news. To be certain though, there’s something for everyone, and it will be made all the better sharing a pint with your #DCBrews comrades.
Going to be there on Tuesday? Be sure to Tweet about it and let everyone know using the #DCBrews hash tag. Remember, #DCBrews wants to meet you!

just joined twitter, but i can’t figure out how to link to the #dcbrews ‘hash tag.’ can anyone help?
There aren’t too many features or buttons to push on Twitter so I can see where you might be getting caught up. Hashtags are really just user generated so you can make them up out of anything just by adding a ‘#’ to a word. Twitter will automatically understand what you mean and make that word a hashtag. When you type your tweet, just type #dcbrews at the end of it. Twitter is meant to be very simple like that.
great, thanks mike.. i’ll give it a try!
