Interesting.

I’d like to hear more about sustainability on a homebrew level. I guess I’ll have to check out the book.

Good comments on Sierra Nevada. I agree they should boast more, if only to encourage other brewers to follow their lead. One incredible thing they do is capture all the CO2 emitted from the brewing process. They use the captured CO2 to move beer around, and they sell the excess. In the wine industry, we use a lot of CO2 (and produce a lot during fermentation). I would be happier to use Sierra Nevada's recaptured CO2 instead, and then move to capturing it for ourselves.

Agreed. I read this while brewing a batch at home myself. I started at %:30am, so it wasn't exactly a social occasion. But enjoying the beer will be.

Cheers.

It is excellent that your job and hobby intertwine so well. I cannot argue with you about brewing at home . . . it is so satisfying to create something that others will enjoy. Certainly my friends haven’t exactly turned down the opportunity to sample my creations. They are always sure to bring back the empties to be refilled!

Always try to encourage your corner bar to increase their offerings of quality beer. The working class bar on my street only carried crappy corporate beer, but I asked the owner to stock the local micro brew and he did it with no problem.
