If there is one thing a growing beer scene needs it’s a bunch of local upstart breweries making good beer. Great beer towns like Portland have so many you can’t walk a few blocks without finding yourself standing in front of one. The DC metro area could certainly use a few more.
Your’s for Good Fermentables has a cool update on a new local brewpub on the verge of opening.
Mad Fox has been popping up in the news for a while now with Vintage 50 Brewmaster Bill Madden at the helm. YFGF found a news report discussing the latest development that a 15 year lease agreement is about to be signed:
If that occurs, the brewpub would open in spring 2010, occupying 8,600 square feet, with indoor seating for 250, and additional outdoor plaza seating.
Yours for Good Fermentables â„¢: It takes a good amount of cash to make a good beer.
Lots of good beer would be flowing pretty soon. 12 draughts with 7 to 10 regular styles plus 20 seasonals on rotation according to Bill’s website! He plans to brew Kolsch, Hefeweizen, Pale Ale, Red Ale, Porters and Irish Stouts regularly. OF course his seasonals will include an Oktoberfest, Pumpkin beer, some Belgian styles. Sounds like this place couldn’t open fast enough.
