Pizza and Beer Pairing and another take on Rogue Oyster Night

Chimay, Chimay, Chimay!

I’m glad other blogs are out there covering the numerous events going on, and Brightest Young Things has a nice write up from their newly 21 intern. I enjoyed his remarks on the Birreria Paradiso pairing of Chimay Cinq Cents and pizza:

Also on special was a Chimay Cheese pizza with endives which paired amazingly with the beer. The Chimay Cinq had a sweet aroma and was light and slightly hoppy. It was a great pair with the pizza because the almost citrusy flavor cut the nutty cheese and made for probably the best pizza I’ve ever eaten.

Check it out for awesome pics of giant Chimay bottles. (Which you can get at the liquor store on U Street by the Kungfu school. I have an empty one from a night that end kicking the head of an Elmo pinata around Tonic in Mt. Pleasant.) After the Chimay tasting, he was unable to go on and his night ended with a nap and a bottle of Dogfish Head Theobroma. Not bad.

He also went on to enjoy the Rogue Oyster night at the Reef the following night. Unlike the person in the previous post on the subject the BYT writer had a positive time. Sounds like he got there early and ate a whole bunch of oysters paired with Captian Sigs and Shakespeare Stout.
