Alright, as the days go by the schedule for DC Beer Week gets more and more complete–and action packed! How are we all going to decide when and where to go, there’s just too much cool stuff. (Just make sure you go to my event at the Black Squirrel of course…) I’m not sure DC’s collective liver can handle this much beer in one week.

Sunday, August 16th
H Street:
Rock and Roll Hotel Unity Jam: It all starts with a day-ling Unity Jam kick-off concert at the Rock and Roll Hotel. Located in one on the up-and-coming beer destinations of DC, the Atlas District, the Hotel will feature a concert with a diverse set of bands, See-I, a reggae dub band; The Blackjacks, a rock band; The Laura Tsaggaris Band, an indie americana band and The Jeff Wells, band a reggae funk band.
For the regular $10 admission you get to see the bands and get drink specials on the Rock and Roll Hotel’s various brews. For the $20 VIP ticket, you get access to the upstairs beer tasings. Supposedly these tickets are a little scacer than the general admission, but they’ll be worth the price as ticket holders get a sample of some harder to find brews. The list of rare beers has yet to be disclosed. The doors open at 2:00 PM.
The Pug After Party: There will also be an after party at 8:30 PM at the neighboring bar The Pug. The Pug is a boxing themed bar with a Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots game. They used to mainly have Budweiser-based pretend craft brews like American Ale and Bare Knuckle Stout, but they’ve increased their offerings with Red Hook ESB on draft, Dale’s Pale Ale in the can, as well as Troegs Pale Ale, Leffe, Brooklyn Lager, Lindemans Kreik all in bottles.

The Reef really failed to this right, I am so disappointed. They claimed to have Oregon oysters, but didn’t produce, yet weren’t honest. Read my full review here: http://thecommonmaneats.wordpress.com/2009/08/19/close-but-no-cigar/ But the Rogue Beers were great: http://thecommonmaneats.wordpress.com/2009/08/19/rogue-breweryreal-beer/
