What’s on tap at Birreria Paradiso tonight

Tonight is another half-price draft happy hour at Birreria Paradiso and their tap list is like a moving target a lot of the time. Let’s look at a few cool taps that they’ve got going tonight (according to their Website)…

Duck Rabbit Schwarzbier: This style is often referred to as a black pils. Duck Rabbit’s lager beer is a limited release that–although dark and scary–is actually a light crisp drinker. It’s roasty with lots of German Hallertau hops. The brewery says it’s a good summer beer, so don’t let the color fool you. 5.8% ABV. Check out the rest after the jump…

Allagash Burnham Road: I wasn’t aware this existed till I saw it on the list. It’s limited release draft-only smoked beer. It’s apparently a Belgian-style with cherrywood smoke malts using Allagash’s house yeast. The beer is 7.7% ABV. These beers are like bacon in a bottle. A belgian smoked ale seems like a new style however.

New Holland Imperial Hatter: New Holland seems to be relatively new in DC and this a reworking of their regular IPA into a big Double IPA. The beer is dry hopped with lots of citrus grapefruity flavors. It has 9.4% ABV and has been described as a bit syrupy, which seems to be the case for a lot of DIPAs.

Dogfish Head Theobroma: Released in May of this year, this new Dogfish Head Frankenstein monster beer comes from an ancient Honduran recipe discovered on a clay fragment. It’s apparently the oldest documented use of chocolate in human history. The beer features Aztec cocoa and cocoa nibs as well as chilies, honey, and annatto tree seeds. 9.0% ABV.
