One of our localish breweries, Flying Dog, throws a huge party every year in honor of Hunter S. Thompson. This year is the 2nd Annual GonzoFest hosted at the brewery. It’s actually not ’till Sept. 12, but tickets just went on sale online.
The party features Flying Dog beers included with your ticket price and chili samples from the Hard Times Cafe Chili Cookoff. Beyond the good brews and food, they will have live music and a Hunter S. Thompson lookalike contest. Dressing up like Hunter gets you a chance to win a 750 ml bottle of the original Gonzo Imperial Porter signed by Ralph Steadman and numerous other Gonzo related prizes.
Tickets are only $20 online (click here to order) and $30 at the door. Some proceeds benefit the Frederick United Way. This is a road trip because the brewery is a bit of a drive from the city to Frederick, Maryland. So get a DD or find a place to stay in the area. It’s worth a stay as Frederick has a lot of great other little brewpubs to check out!
