As a Dupont Circle/Adams Morgan/U Street beer drinker, it is tough to make the sell to get people to trek across town to the metro-less Georgetown. Even when I am trying to go to Birreria Paradiso and one of the best beer lists around.

That is why it is so awesome that the owners of the franchise (I’m gonna use that word lightly-they are just 2 local restaurants) have decided to move their Dupont location and open with a street level Birreria just like Georgetown. At about half the distance and closer than Brickskeller, this place is going to be an instant success all over again. Going Out Gurus got some cool quotes about how much beer Greg Jasgur wants to get in there:

“as much beer as I can fit,” says Birreria beer expert Greg Jasgur. About half the drafts will be the same as those at the Georgetown Birreria, but “we’ll switch it up a bit” with the rest, Jasgur adds. “It’s not going to be exactly the same.”

There will be 12 drafts and over 150! bottles. And if it’s anything like the Georgetown locale those are going to be some hard to find taps and bottles.

The new Pizzeria Paradiso is set to open Aug. 17 so you have plenty of time to iron your favorite beer nerd shirt before the big day.
