With tonight’s Belgian Independence parties, it seems like there are a lot of great reasons to have a beer this week. But don’t drink too much tonight as there is another great reason coming right up, Columbia Heights Day! That event actually isn’t this week as it takes place in August, but this Thursday the neighborhood restaurants are donating 15% of diners’ checks to funding the event.
According to the Going out Gurus, Wonderland Ballroom will be donating some sort of lump some to the cause instead of the 15%. Hit them up for Lancaster Milk Stout and Strawberry Wheat on draft as well as Wild Blue’s Blueberry Pancake Ale and Dragon Stout in bottles. Check out their website for more beer lists…
Commonwealth, a fine purveyor of fish and chips, is giving up 15% and according to local beer reviewer BrewTest, they’ve got Victory Hop Devil on cask. Other beers to look for include Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA, Fisherman’s IPA, Coniston Bluebird Bitter and Troeg’s Rugged Trail Nut Brown Ale. Commonwealth’s bottle list…
Tonic will be participating and you can check out their extensive bottle list which includes Bell’s Oberon and Two Hearted, Dogfish Head 90 Min, Fin du Monde, and some sort of Framboise. You can also check out RedRocks Pizza which is also playing along–they’ve got a bunch of great taps, but I can’t seem to find a good list. Perhaps a DC Beer will take a field trip soon.
