Ok, so don’t get too excited yet. After reading the initial news from Yours for Good Fermentables, it seems that really it’s just a concert with a beer tasting around the same time as the annual Brew at the Zoo so far. We are still short on details about what else is going down and the description of the Rock and Roll Hotel event is a little hard to understand. I’m contacting them to see if they are actually going to jam a dozen tasting tables into their venue or not. If so, that might not be bad–they’ve got pinball!Â
The Rock and Roll Hotel event on August 16th will have musicians See-I, Black Jacks, Laura Tsagarris and Jeff Wells performing. Jeff Wells is another DC beer enthusiast involved in Ale Street News. Seems like the Hotel will have food from 25 local restaurants and beer from at least 12 breweries. I will update you when I get more info on that front. Rock and Roll Hotel’s website…
Brew at the Zoo takes place on Thursday Aug 20th and features a nice long list of breweries to choose from. Victory, Ommegang, North Coast, Otter Creek, Stoudts as well as all the local guys will be present. Armand’s Pizza, Hard Times Cafe and Rockland’s BBQ are the food options named so far. That seems to be a departure from years past. I seem to remember a lot more local restaurants involved–like the Reef and their entertaining bar staff. Tickets are $50 for non-FONZ members and you get a commemorative glass.
