All the patriotic fun over the weekend seems to have created a lull in DC when it come to beer events. Luckily our neighboring beer mecca, Baltimore, is carrying the torch while we get over our red, white and blue hangovers. Head on down to Charm City and hang out with the Clipper City gang.
Tomorrow night (Tuesday) Clipper City is having a beer dinner at Cork’s. Hugh Sisson, who I met up in Boston of all places, will be there helping host so it shouldn’t be missed just for a chance to hang out with one of Baltimore’s cornerstone brewers. They will be serving halibut filet paired with their Oxford Organic Amber as well as skirt steak and Loose Cannon. Check it out. Tickets are $50 and reservations are required. Leave early from work–it starts at 6 PM.
After your beer dinner, check in to a hotel, skip work the next day and have happy hour at Mahaffey’s where the Clipper City gang will be celebrating the release of the Heavy Seas Big DIPA. It’s the first of the Heavy Seas bomber series and it’s a double IPA rolling in at 10.6% ABV! It’s hopped 3 times like the Loose Cannon and features Centenial and Amarillo hops. While you are at Mahaffey’s you should check out their 100 Beer Club as well as their immense list of beers. Drink 100 of their beers-get a mug and become a member. Bars in DC should do this. Perhaps some bars around town would honor a DCBeer Mug Club?
