Last week a few friends and I went to Comet Ping Pong up by Van Ness in Northwest DC. Those of you checking out the twitter feed might remember we saw punk band and PBR enthusiasts Mika Miko play.

The big draw of Comet is its great ping pong table out on the patio and its large dining room that serves some great pizza. We sampled the ‘Yalie’ pizza with clams, onions and garlic as well as the ‘Smoky’ which has smoked bacon and gouda. Comet’s jerk style chicken wings are also pretty amazing. Along with the pizza and the ping pong, Comet lesser known draw is it hosts music acts regularly in its backstage area. Keep up with their calendar here to see their upcoming shows…
Ok on with the stuff you really want to hear about. How’s the beer? Wouldn’t it be a shame if such an awesome concept like a ping pong/pizza/punk rock bar was ruined by only having cans of PBR to drink? Well this particular ping pong/pizza/punk rock bar is not. We ate our pizza with a pitcher of Allagash White and spent the rest of the night enjoying cans of Dale’s Pale Ale, Oskar Blues Old Chubb and Butternuts Moo Thunder Stout. The beer list is pretty nice the prices aren’t too bad. Click on the photo above to see the list with price (up to date as of this post). Great beers for taking in a concert or taking on your friends in a round of ping pong.
It’s a little hike from the metro, but there is a bus that’ll take you up there as well.
