David at Musings over a Pint caught a story in the local Nelson county news that one of my favorite not-so-local breweries is expanding!
Apparently Blue Mountain Brewery in Afton (south of Charlottesville in the Virginia wine country) just got another fermentation or storage vessel that will double their capacity over the next year. The blog post at Nelson County Life is short on details but they have pictures of the tank and say that its over 1000 gallons (32 barrels).
They claim the extra capacity will help them double their keg and bottle production which means their beers will be available in more bars and stores in the region. So far they’ve made it to Arlington… I’ve heard them discuss DC in other articles and I can only hope that this move means the beer will break into DeVinos and Whole Foods downtown.
