DeVinos has Fantome Hiver!

The ominous Fantome Hiver.

One of my favorite places to get beer in my neighborhood is DeVinos. One of my favorite things they stock is my favorite mystery beer Fantome. Quite recently they got a whole shipload of Fantome Hiver to get you through this otherworldly spring spell.

Hiver has that great light sour flavor much like the summer Fantome did, but not as much of the apple tartiness. Smelled skunky to me. It does end with an almost nutty aftertaste. I found it tasty but I still love the summer ‘08 the best. That might be my favorite beer of all time never to be seen again most likely. Still gotta get my hands on a Fantome Noel 08/09.

One a side note, rumor has it that DeVinos on U Street is rearranging their beer selection to be more Belgian focused, where as their sister store D’Vines up in Columbia Heights will begin focusing on microbrews. DeVinos can also get you kegs of craft when you want.

I look forward to this change to see what other great beers they can uncover from abroad. I am a little sad to know that I’m gonna have to walk uphill to get my American beers tho.
